In 1973, Candy left Hollins College and moved to New York City to pursue a career in Interior Design, there she attended the New York School of Interior Design. Candy received on the job training working for the fabric houses of Greeff and Brunschwig & Fils. Eventually she went on to become Design Assistant to the President of McMillen, New York's oldest design firm.
After working on and supervising projects all over the globe, Candy felt confident enough to return to Atlanta and start her own design firm. That was 1979 and since then she has specialized in primary residences and second homes throughout North America.
Candy has become known for creating warm and relaxed environments that are achieved by her skillful use of color, and ability to artfully combine comfortable upholstered pieces with antiques, and contemporary accessories. Her work has been published in various magazines, including Southern Accents, Veranda, Southern Living, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Magazine, and Better Homes & Gardens. She also has had projects featured in the hard back editions of Southern Interiors and Accents on Accessories. She has been a guest on the PBS Design Show and her work on the Southern Living Centennial Idea House was shown in a special on HGTV. She also participated in the Highgate Showhouse in Highlands, NC. Several years ago Candy was chosen as the Miami Circle "Designer of the Year."
